FOOTBALL – BAHRAIN’S international friendly match against Georgia tonight is an important opportunity for the kingdom’s senior men’s football national team to gain experience against a strong opponent.
This was highlighted last night by Bahrain head coach Dragan Talajic, who was speaking during his pre-game Press conference in Tbilisi.
Talajic said that the tune-up is a chance to gauge the national team’s level in this current period. He added that they look forward to achieving the desired technical benefits from the contest, which will contribute to developing performance and chemistry amongst the players.
Tonight’s fixture will be played at Tbilisi’s Mikheil Maski Stadium. Its kick-off time has been changed to 7pm, Bahrain time.
The Bahrainis trained at the match venue yesterday under Talajic’s supervision. Bahrain Football Association board member and national team supervisor Shaikh Ahmed bin Isa Al Khalifa was on hand.
Meanwhile, national team veteran Sayed Dhiya Saeed added that they are expecting a tough match against the hosts.
Saeed acknowledged the quality of their opponents but highlighted that the nationals are determined to deliver a strong show.
The game is the first of two international friendlies scheduled for Bahrain this week. Following this evening’s clash, they will travel to Antalya, Türkiye, where they will face off with Syria on Tuesday.
Bahrain are in Europe as part of their preparations for two major tournaments – the 27th Gulf Cup in September and October of this year, which they are entering as defending champions, and the AFC Asian Cup 2027, slated for January and February next year.
