In these cases, laws need to be toughened. If the perpetrator is a citizen, they should be imprisoned; if it’s a foreigner, they should be deported. Animals are sentient beings, and animal abuse is also linked to psychopathy. Child abuse and domestic violence are all issues. The government must act now to prevent serial killers from running loose in the future.

This issue is a symptom of a larger problem. If we had proper animal welfare laws, a humane stray animal management programme, and responsible enforcement, we would not be facing recurring complaints about stray dogs around our burial grounds or elsewhere. Addressing the root cause is far more effective than reacting to the consequences.

There should be a just and humane programme to take good care of homeless dogs and cats in Bahrain.

How about a proper CNR programme, banning animal breeding and funding stray shelters so they can properly feed and take care of these poor animals?
