Terrified tourists fled for their lives after Guatemala’s Volcán de Fuego suddenly erupted on June 22, sending burning rocks and thick ash into the sky.
Dramatic footage captured hikers screaming and scrambling for cover as glowing chunks of lava rained down around them.
One hiker narrowly avoided being struck by molten debris, whilst another was seen rescuing a dog amid the chaos. Although no fatalities have been reported, witnesses described the experience as “absolutely terrifying.”
Volcán de Fuego, Guatemala’s most active volcano, is known for frequent eruptions, with its devastating 2018 explosion remaining one of the country’s worst natural disasters.
