The Deputy Chief of the Cyber Crime Prosecution announced that the Public Prosecution had received a report from the Cyber Crime Directorate stating that, as part of its ongoing monitoring of social media platforms, it had identified a comment posted on one of the platforms containing sectarian remarks capable of inciting discord within society.
Investigations subsequently led to the identification of the account holder through which the comment had been published.
The Public Prosecution immediately initiated its investigation into the incident, reviewed the comment in question, and questioned the defendant, who acknowledged ownership of the account and admitted to posting the comment. The Public Prosecution subsequently ordered the defendant's remand in custody pending investigation and referred the case to the Criminal Court.
