Massive push to clear away 5,000 illegal charity boxes
I hope some legal charity boxes are also kept.
@shipradhirpassi
I hope they took the items to a charity.

Murderers’ jail term up held
Thanks GDN for telling us the nationalities of the people committing the murder. Rather than saying Asian it’s so much more honest, open and good journalism.

Bahrain to ban single-use plastic bags under 57 microns from August 20
Didn’t we do this before? Why not ban it all... it works in other countries.
@maddie.whyte_
It was about time.
@rem_b78
So people will just use the thicker ones and throw more plastic in the sea and environment... It’s like banning the smaller bottles of poison and keeping the bigger ones on the market. Smart decision!
@environmanbahrain
That doesn’t leave any room to protect the ecosystem. It makes it much worse, because it’s not just the oyster beds and marine life but also pollution in its entirety. It also means that those plastic bags that are above 57 microns neither devolve nor get recycled.
Why not ban the plastic bag epidemic completely? It would reduce plastic in the kingdom, help re-enforce stricter and cleaner packaging of goods, and increase the opportunity for people to use bags produced with reusable, renewable or biodegradable materials.
No one really cares about the economy and ecosystem until you serve it up for them to eat. Ban plastic bags completely – make it a ‘bring-your-own-bag thing’ – or how about making some money by charging 25 fils per bag? People need to be more concerned about where these plastic items end up, and unless you make them uncomfortable they won’t stop polluting.
