FOOTBALL – The Bahrain Football Association (BFA) will hold this evening the official draws for its 2026-27 national competitions.
These include the His Majesty the King’s Cup, the Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League, and the Bahrain First Division.
The ceremonies will be taking place at Royal Saray Resort in Seef, starting at 6pm.
The kingdom’s national football season kicks off in August and will continue until May of next year, the BFA had announced.
The 2026-27 Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League will be first to take to the pitch from August 27, and then the Bahrain First Division, the kingdom’s second-tier league for senior men’s clubs, will begin on September 13.
The His Majesty the King’s Cup, Bahrain’s richest annual football tournament, will then kick off on December 14.
Amongst Bahrain’s other competitions, age-group leagues will be kicking off on September 10, the Khalid Bin Hamad Cup will be played from December 12, and the single game Bahrain Super Cup has been slated for December 29.
This year’s Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League will feature defending champions Muharraq, Al Khaldiya, Riffa, A’ali, Malkiya, Hidd, Al Ahli, Sitra, Al Najma, and promoted clubs Al Ettifaq, East Riffa, and Manama.
The Bahrain First Division will consist of the relegated Budaiya, Al Shabab, Bahrain Club, Al Ettihad, Al Hala, Bouri, Um Al Hassam, Isa Town, Busaiteen, Al Tadhamun, Etehad Al Reef, and Galali.
