Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bahrain Car Parks Company (Amakin), under which Amakin will serve as a sponsor of the bank’s Farmers Market initiative.
The agreement includes financial support as well as joint promotional and media campaigns aimed at strengthening the market’s continuity, raising public awareness and expanding its community reach. It also reinforces its role as a leading national platform supporting local farmers and showcasing Bahraini produce.
The MoU was signed at the Farmers Market in the presence of National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) secretary-general Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa.
BDB was represented by group chief executive officer Dalal Al Qais, chief financial officer Yaser Mudhafar and members of the bank’s asset management team.
From Amakin, attendees included group CEO Tariq Aljowder, operations and business development senior director Abdulla Qudrat, information technology director Ehsan Al Kooheji, human capital and corporate support senior manager Fatema Alkhan, senior marketing and public relations officer Asma Abdulla and senior marketing officer Fatema Turani.
“The Farmers Market has established itself as one of the most prominent national platforms supporting Bahraini farmers and local produce, with a clear purpose of strengthening the connection between producers and consumers,” said Shaikha Maram.
“The ongoing success and development of this initiative rests on the concerted efforts between the public and private sectors, which creates broader opportunities for farmers and supports the long-term growth of the agricultural sector. We welcome partnerships that contribute to the sustainability and advancement of the Farmers Market and ensuring its positive impact on society and the national economy.”
Mr Aljowder said the partnership marks an important step in strengthening collaboration between the public and private sectors to support national initiatives.
“Our sponsorship of the Farmers Market is rooted in our commitment to empowering farmers and entrepreneurs, promoting local production, and contributing to a more stable and sustainable food system that serves both society and the national economy.”
Ms Al Qais said supporting Bahraini farmers and advancing local agricultural initiatives remain a strategic priority for the bank.
“This partnership with Amakin reaffirms our belief that cross-sector collaboration will remain essential to fostering sustainability and empowering local production.”
