THE Supreme Council for Women (SCW) women in sport committee held its second meeting, chaired by SCW member Dr Shaikha Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa.
Dr Shaikha Hessa reviewed the committee’s work plan for 2026-27, which aims to provide recommendations and propose policies and programmes to enhance women’s participation in various sports areas.
It also aims to ensure women’s needs are integrated into national policies and initiatives that contribute to the development of women’s sport, in line with equal opportunity and gender balance, as well as discussing indicators for women in sport under the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women for 2025-26.
Committee member and General Sports Authority administrative affairs advisor Wafa Issa Aoun also presented a detailed overview of the responsibilities of relevant government entities in the sports sector, contributing to strengthening partnership channels and unifying joint efforts to support and develop women’s sport.
