BASKETBALL – Bahrain battle Egypt today for the gold medals in the 23rd Arab Youth Men’s Basketball Championship 2026 in Sfax, Tunisia.
The final is scheduled for a 5.30pm tip-off, Bahrain time, at Sfax’s Raed Al Bawaji Hall.
It will be preceded by Morocco taking on the host Tunisians in the bronze medal contest.
Bahrain and Egypt set up their title showdown after finishing as the top two teams at the end of the round-robin stage.
The nationals, coached by veteran Bahraini tactician Salman Ramadhan, were ranked second after winning four of their five assignments – with their lone loss coming against the Egyptians in both sides’ concluding fixture of the preliminaries.
The Bahrainis will now look to avenge that defeat and secure the crown.
Bahrain’s participation in Sfax is part of their preparations for the Gulf Basketball Association (GBA) U18 Championship 2026, set to be held in Doha, Qatar from July 17 to 22.
At the Qatari capital, they will also be vying for a berth in the Fiba U18 Asia Cup 2026, with the top three nations climbing the podium earning their places in the biennial continental event, to be played in Ahmedabad, India from Aug 13 to 23.
