ENDURANCE HORSERACING – HIS Majesty King Hamad’s humanitarian work and youth affairs representative, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman, and Bahrain Royal Endurance Team captain Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa congratulated Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El Sisi on the occasion of Egyptian rider Mahmoud Samir El Gharib achieving a historic milestone by qualifying to compete in the World Endurance Championship for the first time in the history of Egyptian equestrianism.
Shaikh Nasser affirmed his commitment to supporting El Gharib by developing a comprehensive programme to train him to compete for a place at the worlds, while ensuring the best technical and administrative conditions to achieve this goal. This initiative is part of the sports cooperation agreement between Bahrain and Egypt, and it strengthens mutual cooperation in sports, particularly endurance riding, which develops sporting talent and the exchange of expertise between the two countries.
Shaikh Nasser noted that this success embodies the approach adopted by the kingdom in supporting Arab countries, transferring technical and administrative expertise, and enabling Arab riders to reach the highest international levels to advance Arab endurance riding.
Shaikh Nasser expressed his confidence in the ability of El Gharib to perform admirably at the worlds, wishing him continued success and Egypt further achievements in various international sporting forums.
Egypt’s qualification for the world championships is a source of pride for the Arab world, in line with Shaikh Nasser’s vision to increase Arab participation in international endurance championships and provide more Arab riders with the opportunity to represent their countries globally, reflecting the development of Arab endurance riding and its growing international standing.
The Egyptian rider secured his place after finishing ninth in the 160-km Samorin International Endurance Race, riding the horse “Bataah”, bred by the Bahrain Royal Endurance Team’s breeding stables.
