A major landslide triggered by continuous heavy rainfall struck Kerala's Wayanad district on Tuesday, killing at least five people and injuring six.
The landslide occurred close to the site of the ongoing Anakkompoyil–Meppadi tunnel road project, where construction workers were present when the hillside gave way. Chilling CCTV footage captured terrified pedestrians narrowly escaping on foot as the mud and debris tore through the town of Kalladi.
Authorities have launched a large-scale rescue operation, with emergency crews fearing that at least 10 others may still be trapped beneath the rubble. Local residents stepped in immediately to assist first responders in pulling survivors to safety.
