BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN representatives Seef are back in action in the Fiba 3x3 World Tour 2026 this weekend at the Caceres Challenger in Spain, taking place Saturday and Sunday.
Seef are one of 12 teams from around the world that will be hitting the half-court in the competition’s preliminary round. They will be playing in Pool B alongside Amsterdam Rabobank from the Netherlands and Fuengirola from Spain.
Pool A features Ub from Serbia, Valencia Basket from Spain, and Cibona Ph.Classic from Croatia; Pool C is composed of Vienna from Austria, DeQing from China, and a team from qualifying draw A; and Pool D includes Baskets Bonn from Germany, Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy from Mongolia, and a team from qualifying draw B.
Six squads are in the qualifiers – with draw A featuring Toronto from Canada, Milan from Italy, and Athina AEH from Greece; and draw B comprising Prague from the Czech Republic, Warsaw from Poland, and Luanda from Angola.
The Fiba 3x3 World Tour is the premier international street basketball series featuring tournaments of various levels held around the world. Masters events are the highest-tier, followed by Challengers.
This weekend’s Caceres Challenger also acts as a qualifier for the Debrecen Masters, slated for August 29 and 30 in Hungary.
Seef are set to compete in the two-day Caceres tournament with the quartet of Bogdan Dragovic, Austin Ajukwa, Uros Ilic, and Fiba 3x3 World Tour debutant Elyas Younes.
They have been gearing up for their Spanish foray with local training at the Bahrain Basketball Association in Um Al Hassam Sports Complex. They departed for Europe last night.
Seef will open their campaign against Amsterdam on Saturday at 8.40pm, and then complete their Pool B schedule against Fuengirola early on Sunday morning at 12.10am. Both times are Bahrain.
They will hope to finish amongst the top two in their group in order to punch their tickets to the quarter-finals, which are scheduled to begin from 8pm, Bahrain time. The semi-finals and final will follow later on Sunday evening.
Seef are coming off a solid sixth place finish in the Lion City Challenger 2026 held in Singapore last month.
Seef are competing in the Fiba 3x3 World Tour for the second straight season. Their maiden campaign in 2025 saw them play alongside Bahrain’s Riffa, who are now back to competing as Antwerp from Belgium. Dragovic was also a part of Seef’s roster last year.
The kingdom has been involved as a host nation in the past three seasons of the Fiba 3x3 World Tour. In 2023 and 2024, Bahrain hosted the Manama Masters, while in 2025, the island staged the Fiba 3x3 World Tour Final for the very first time.
Later this year, Bahrain will once again be delighting basketball fans with the Manama Masters, scheduled for November 20 and 21.
