A routine training flight in central Argentina ended in tragedy on July 4 when a 42-year-old flight instructor died after jumping from the aircraft. Leandro Andrés Bertazzo reportedly removed his headset and seatbelt, told his 22-year-old student, “You know what you have to do, carry on,” and exited the plane mid-flight.
Despite being in shock, the student managed to remain calm and safely landed the Cessna 150 without sustaining any injuries or damage to the plane. Colleagues described Bertazzo as a kind and highly experienced instructor, noting there had been no apparent warning signs before the incident.
A full investigation has been launched by authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy
