APM Terminals Bahrain, operator of Khalifa Bin Salman Port, has launched the MARSA Internship Programme. Under the slogan ‘Lifting Ambitions’, and aligned with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, it offers structured opportunities to build workplace capabilities, while gaining insight into the port and logistics sector.
Designed for Bahraini university students and recent graduates, the programme combines practical experience with the professional and technical skills needed for a changing labour market.
Participants gain hands-on exposure across a range of departments, helping to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application, enabling them to strengthen core skills and build confidence in a dynamic environment.
APM Terminals Bahrain managing director Matthew Luckhurst emphasised the significance of the initiative, stating: “The MARSA Internship Programme is a direct investment in the next generation of leaders and a commitment we take seriously.
“We give interns real exposure, not just observation: the chance to build skills, sharpen judgement and find the confidence to shape their careers. In return, they bring fresh energy and perspective to APM Terminals Bahrain’s broader mission.”
APM Terminals Bahrain Head of People Function, Rahim Abbas, believes that every intern the company helps develop will strengthen ‘the culture of excellence and collaboration that defines Bahrain’s future’.
“At APM Terminals Bahrain, investing in people isn’t a talking point, it’s a commitment we act on,” he said. “The MARSA Internship Programme gives young Bahraini professionals real opportunity: hands-on experience, genuine mentorship and the space to grow into who they’re capable of becoming.”
Through MARSA, continued investment in the next generation of Bahraini professionals strengthens the local talent pipeline and supports Bahrain’s role as a leading regional logistics and maritime hub.
n Applications are open to Bahraini nationals aged between 18 and 30, including final-year students and graduates from all disciplines. For more information, contact APM via their website www.apmterminals.com/en/bahrain or email hrbah@apmterminals.com.
