VOLLEYBALL – Bahrain wrapped up their preliminary round campaign with a winless record yesterday in the AVC Boys’ U18 Volleyball Championship 2026, currently being played in Haikou, China.
The kingdom’s youth men’s national team lost 0-3 (12-25, 18-25, 14-25) to Iran in their concluding Pool B fixture at Haikou Wuyuan River Gymnasium.
The result – which followed back-to-back defeats in four sets against India and the Philippines – put them in last place on their group table, and they will now compete in the classification bracket to determine ninth to 16th places on the tournament’s final ranking.
Their first assignment of this phase will be against Saudi Arabia.
It will be played tomorrow at 8.30am, Bahrain time.
Today is a rest day for all teams.
Also in this ninth-to-16th classification bracket are Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, the Philippines, Australia, Kazakhstan, and Hong Kong.
In the championship’s quarter-finals, also to be played tomorrow, Japan take on India, Iran face South Korea, Pakistan play defending champions China, and Chinese Taipei clash with Thailand.
The final four is then slated for Friday, which will set the stage for the gold and bronze medal games on Saturday.
Further classification games will also take place on both days.
