Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro honoured commercial establishments participating in the fifth edition of the ‘Consumer’s Friend’ initiative in recognition of their contribution to supporting consumers and strengthening the ministry’s partnership with the private sector.
Speaking at the ceremony, the minister said the ministry’s partnership with the private sector is a key pillar of market stability and expanding consumer choice, describing the initiative as a successful model of public-private co-operation that supports consumers and the national economy.
He noted that this year’s edition, launched under the theme “More Choices, Better Value,” was expanded for the first time to include food and consumer goods, school supplies and stationery, and electrical and electronic appliances, providing consumers with a wider range of discounted products.
Mr Fakhro said the expansion reflects the ministry’s commitment to meeting consumers’ needs, promoting fair competition among retailers, and reinforcing market stability.
He also commended the strong participation of commercial establishments, saying it reflects the sector’s commitment to social responsibility and national initiatives that enhance consumer confidence in the local market.
