BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN’S senior men’s 3x3 basketball national team missed out on the gold medals in the second Algiers Lite Quest, held in Algeria.
The kingdom’s squad – composed of Bogdan Dragovic, Austin Ajukwa, Uros Ilic, and Elyas Younes – had to settle for the runner-up spot after losing to their counterparts from Egypt 20-21 in the tournament final.
It was the only setback for the Bahrainis in the 3x3 competition. They had booked their berth in the title-decider after defeating Tunisia One 21-13 in the semi-finals, while they dominated in a 21-8 win against the Comoros national team in the quarters.
Bahrain advanced to the knockouts after earlier winning both their games in Pool C of the preliminary stage – first routing FASU National Team of Algeria 21-9 and then beating Tunisia Two 21-15.
The Algiers Lite Quest acted as a qualifier for the Mataro Challenger 2026, to be held in Spain on September 26 and 27 as part of this year’s Fiba 3x3 World Tour.
