BOWLING – UM Al Hassam stunned defending champions Riffa 6-2 (2,435-2,342) to headline the 10th week of action in the 2026 Bahrain Bowling League, currently being played at Funland Centre’s lanes.
Um Al Hassam took two of the three games in a hotly contested affair and earned the extra two points with their superior total. They won game one 855-794 and then claimed game two 842-789, but Riffa did enough to narrowly secure the third game 759-738 and salvage two points from the defeat.
Talal Al Abdulla was Um Al Hassam’s leading scorer with a 641 series, while Issa Khaled chipped in with a 611 total. Zayed Alawadhi took down 593 pins and Rashed Aldalhan had 590 for the victors.
Abdulaziz Alshaikh paced Riffa in the setback with a 627 score, while Fawaz Abdulla added a 601. JM Villanueva posted a 564 total and Ali Almass scored 550 in the rare result for the current league leaders.
With the outcome, Um Al Hassam stayed in third place after improving to 64 points and cut the gap to Riffa to six as they went to 70.
Also on week 10, Bahrain Club, currently in second place on the standings, failed to capitalise on the Riffa upset after being held to a 4-4 (2,366-2,327) stalemate by Busaiteen.
Bahrain Club won just the third game in their match-up but had the better overall score.
Busaiteen kicked things off with an 822-769 win in the first game, which they followed with a slim 817-803 triumph in the second. Bahrain Club bounced back to close things out with a 794-688 outing in game three, which helped them come away with the higher team total.
Ahmed Fareed scored a 614 series for Bahrain Club, while Mohammed Mureed had 593, Khaled Sameer 583, and Aqeel Alawadhi 576.
Mohammed Al Shawoosh was the top Busaiteen performer with a 635 score, while Francis Medios scored 584, Yaser Alkhan 579, and Yousif Alali 529.
Bahrain Club edged closer to Riffa after rising to 66 points, whereas Busaiteen climbed to 32 for fifth in the bottom-half of the table.
Elsewhere, Al Hala were 6-2 (2,180-2,011) winners over Isa Town and Al Ittifaq beat Sanad 6-2 (2,150-2,099).
Waleed Darraj top scored for Hala in their match with 593 pins while Abdulla Almurbati was Isa Town’s best player with a 595 series. Hala went to solo fourth place on the standings with 34 points while Isa Town dropped to last with 10.
In Ittifaq’s triumph, Hussain Abdulkarim was in scintillating form with a 661 series – the high of the week – to help his team overcome Sayed Moosa’s 570 for Sanad. Ittifaq climbed from the bottom of the table to seventh with 12 points, while Sanad were sixth on 32.
