The idea of the Suggestions and Complaints App is very positive and should alleviate some frustration caused by the absence of personal contact which is becoming increasingly difficult.
However, based on my own experience, it requires serious attention from the government bodies concerned.
As a responsible Bahraini citizen, I feel that I should complain about potential hazards in the area where I live (Adliya).
I sent three complaints regarding these situations to the app, and they were duly forwarded to appropriate departments. I had, as requested, provided photographs, road numbers, block numbers and house numbers where required.
There was no action and I therefore submitted a follow-up request for further action.
I was again informed that the matters had been sent to other dedicated departments.
I received telephone calls from two of the departments asking me where these problems were! This was very surprising since they had been given all the relevant information. I would have presumed that they had digital maps available and, if not, they could easily have found it on Google Maps!
They had made no attempt to go and take a look. If staff from the municipality had inspected these areas, the problems would have been quite apparent and it is not my job to do their work for them. Perhaps, they should be asked to take these complaints seriously which would make a huge difference to the public opinion.
I still look forward to using this public service in the future.
