The Transportation and Telecommunications Ministry has launched a commemorative postage stamp to mark “The Year of Isa Al Kabeer”, honouring the memory of His Highness Isa Al Kabeer, Ruler of Bahrain and its Dependencies, who is recognised as the founder of the modern Bahraini state and the leader of its institutional renaissance.
The stamp was unveiled at the Bahrain Postal Museum in Manama.
Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said the commemorative stamp marks an important national milestone documenting the history of Bahrain’s postal sector, which dates back to August 1, 1884, with the opening of the country’s first post office in the capital, Manama.
The minister noted that commemorating national figures through postage stamp issues highlights the role of stamps as historical records that preserve key national milestones and help pass Bahrain’s national memory on to future generations.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to further developing the postal sector, enhancing its capabilities in line with international standards, and supporting Bahrain’s comprehensive development.
