Saudi utility giant Acwa Power said it consortium with US group Air Products has completed construction work on the mega green hydrogen project at Oxagon located within Saudi Arabia’s mega futuristic city NEOM, and commercial operations are set to begin next year, reported Energy Intelligence, citing a senior official.
The $8.5 billion facility is now in the commissioning stage, stated Acwa CEO Samir Serhan recently while talking to analysts and investors during an earnings call.
The consortium, NEOM Green Hydrogen Company, is a joint venture between Acwa Power, Air Products and NEOM, the developer of Saudi Arabia's mega futuristic city.
When fully operational at the end of 2026, it will be the world’s largest green hydrogen plant producing up to 600 tonnes of carbon-free fuel daily, thus marking a significant milestone in the journey toward a greener future, said Acwa in a statement.
It will boast a capacity of 4 GW of solar and wind power generation later this year and first ammonia product availability expected in 2027, it added-TradeArabia News Service
