Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, visited the Year of Isa Al Kabeer exhibition and competition, organised by the ministry as part of Youth City 2030 activities.
The exhibition is part of government efforts to implement the Royal Order designating 2026 as the Year of Isa Al Kabeer, and the initiatives, programmes and meetings of the Committee for Reviving the Year of Isa Al Kabeer, chaired by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior.
Minister Tawfiqi viewed the participating artworks, which drew on Bahrain’s national heritage and reflected young people’s perspectives and creativity. She said the exhibition and competition aim to engage youth in national occasions and milestones and enable them to express their views on national heritage through art, culture and creativity.
She noted that the works demonstrate young people’s ability to draw inspiration from Bahrain’s history and heritage and present contemporary artistic interpretations that strengthen their awareness of the Kingdom’s history, enrich the cultural and artistic scene, and contribute to shaping its present and future.
During the tour, Minister Tawfiqi was briefed on the 28 participating artworks, their ideas and artistic perspectives, and the diversity of their styles, techniques and creative approaches. She also heard from participants about their ideas and artistic experiences, and commended their talents and works.
The minister told participants that everyone is a winner, as the competition allowed them to express their creativity and participate in commemorating the Year of Isa Al Kabeer. She stressed that the value of participation lies in the experience, knowledge and opportunities gained through such initiatives.
She also honoured artist Zuhair Mohammed Ali, winner of the Year of Isa Al Kabeer competition, for his distinguished artwork, which reflected his creative vision in addressing the occasion and drawing on Bahrain’s national heritage.
Zuhair said the competition was a distinguished artistic and national experience that enabled him to explore Bahrain’s history and heritage and express his appreciation for the legacy of the founder of the modern state and leader of institutional development in Bahrain’s history, the late Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Ruler of Bahrain and its Dependencies.
He said the honour would encourage him to continue developing his artistic experience, and thanked the Ministry of Youth Affairs for providing artists and young people with a platform for creativity and expression.
