VOLLEYBALL – JORDAN will host the 24th edition of the Arab Men’s Volleyball Championship in October, it has been confirmed.
The Jordan Volleyball Federation (JVF) signed an agreement with the Arab Volleyball Association (AVA) to organise the regional event.
The tournament is pencilled in for October 4 to 14 in Amman, with Bahrain expected to take part as defending champions.
The deal was confirmed in a signing ceremony by JVF vice-president Farah Badarneh and AVA secretary general Feras Al Helwachi, who is also the Bahrain Volleyball Association secretary general.
It took place in the presence of JVF president Princess Ayah bint Faisal, on the sidelines of the inaugural edition of the Arab Women’s U18 Volleyball Championship, which came to a close last weekend at the Jordanian capital.
Jordan’s hosting of the championship reflects the confidence the AVA places in the JVF and their ability to organise Arab competitions, given their vast experience and resources that have contributed to the success of various past events.
Bahrain won the previous edition of the Arab Men’s Volleyball Championship in November of 2024, hosted then by the kingdom.
The senior men’s squad secured the winners’ trophy for only the third time in the tournament’s history, adding to their Arab titles in 1992 and 2008.
The Bahrainis were guided then by former senior men’s head coach and ex-Olympian Jorge Elgueta from Argentina. They defeated continental powerhouses Qatar in the final in four sets.
