HANDBALL – A Bahraini handball coach tragically passed away yesterday while supervising a training session at his local club, reports our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej.
Al Eker Sports Club’s Jaafar Abdulnabi was in training with the club’s junior team when he suffered a sudden health issue.
Attempts were made to resuscitate him and provide necessary medical assistance, but he passed away amidst the shock and disbelief of players and administrators present in the sports hall.
Abdulnabi was an integral part of Eker’s handball programme, working on developing their junior players.
He was a well-known figure in the kingdom’s handball community, being a former goalkeeper with the national team and at Tubli Club.
Eker issued a statement last night, published on social media, on behalf of the club’s board of directors, extending their deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to Abdulnabi’s family and to all who knew him.
The Bahrain Handball Federation also issued a statement last night mourning Abdulnabi’s passing.
