A New York man who miraculously survived being struck by lightning bought a lottery ticket just days after escaping the near-death ordeal without a single burn.
Thomas Fahmy, 24, was walking to his car during heavy rain in Staten Island when a lightning bolt struck near his feet.
A doorbell camera captured the moment Fahmy suddenly collapsed to the ground before picking himself up and walking to a nearby home to seek help.
Fahmy described feeling an intense, burning shock and numbness across his body, though he managed to remain conscious throughout. Following an overnight hospital observation, doctors confirmed he had suffered no major injuries or visible burns.
Feeling a renewed sense of fortune, Fahmy bought a Mega Millions lottery ticket shortly after being discharged.
Reflecting on his survival, Fahmy admitted the experience reshaped his outlook on life and daily priorities. “It all goes down the drain once you see life literally flash in front of your eyes,” he said.
