MOTORSPORT – Bahraini-British GT team 2 Seas Motorsport, co-owned by Bahrain’s Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, had twice the reason to celebrate in round seven of the 2026 GT World Challenge (GTWC) Europe, held at the Nurburgring in Germany.
2 Seas’ number 222 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, driven by Charles Dawson, Kiern Jewiss, and Reece Barr, converted their Bronze Cup pole to a sensational victory in class; while their teammates Dani Juncadella, Chris Lulham, and Jules Gounon, behind the wheel of 2 Seas’ number three Mercedes-AMG – operated by 2 Seas in collaboration with Team Verstappen Racing, owned by four-time Formula One champion Max Verstappen – climbed the overall podium for third place while competing in the Pro Cup.
The race weekend marked the fourth endurance meeting of the GTWC Europe season.
Barr and Juncadella were in their respective cars at the start of the race, with both drivers negotiating a busy opening lap while avoiding incidents.
A full course yellow shortly before the end of the first hour brought the field closer together, with the number three car making a pit stop and Juncadella handing over to Lulham.
Barr adopted a different strategy, remaining on track for longer before making his stop.
Dawson then took over and remained in contention for the lead, making a decisive overtaking move following the re-start.
As the race progressed, the number three car continued its challenge at the front and gained another position during its final scheduled pit-stop before Gounon took over.
Jewiss subsequently took the wheel of the number 222 car and reclaimed the Bronze Cup lead as the field completed its pit-stop sequence.
He maintained the advantage despite another full course yellow and sustained pressure during the final hour.
Penalties applied to cars ahead after the race promoted Juncadella, Lulham, and Gounon to third place overall, securing the trio’s first endurance win of the campaign.
The number 222 car’s victory marked another Nurburgring success for 2 Seas Motorsport – exactly one year after the team claimed their maiden GTWC Europe race win at the same circuit.
The GTWC Europe features 10 rounds in 2026 – five apiece for endurance and sprint weekends.
Past endurance rounds were held in Paul Ricard, Monza, and Spa, while the last will be the season-finale in Algarve in Portugal from October 16 to 18.
A pair of sprint meetings remain – first in the Netherlands from September 18 to 20 and then in Spain from October 2 to 4.
The previous sprint rounds took place at Brands Hatch, Misano, and Magny-Cours.
2 Seas Motorsport are also competing in the British GT Championship this season.
They will be in action for the season’s seventh and penultimate round at Donington Park this weekend with a two-car entry – Lulham and Kevin Tse in 2 Seas’ number 18 Mercedes-AMG and Ian Loggie and Aaron Walker in their number 15 Mercedes-AMG.
