TRIATHLON – Bahrain Victorious 13 came out on top at the Supertri Pro Series Final in Jersey over the weekend, with Cassandre Beaugrand taking the title and Georgia Taylor-Brown securing silver.
Rather than a points-based series finale, Jersey was a winner-take-all race, with the professional championship title decided on the day and US$100,000 going to the winner.
Racing over three non-stop rounds of a 300-metre swim, four-kilometre bike, and 1.6km run, Beaugrand’s superior swim-run combination ultimately overcame the pressure applied by Taylor-Brown on the bike. The Briton repeatedly challenged the French Olympic champion before taking an impressive second place and US$75,000 in prize money.
“It was a good choice to race,” said Beaugrand at the finish, having also won four consecutive World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) races.
“I could stop my season right now as I’ve done everything I wanted. It’s been a pretty special season.”
Beaugrand established herself immediately with a strong opening swim and earned a Short Chute, which could be used on the final run to gain a valuable time advantage.
Taylor-Brown kept the pressure on throughout Jersey’s highly technical bike course, where Beaugrand was more tentative and lost ground during the opening two bike legs.
She closed the gap on each run, however, bringing the leading contenders back together ahead of the third and final round.
Taylor-Brown then bridged back after losing time in an early incident on the final bike leg and again pushed the pace at the front, but could not shake Beaugrand.
Once onto the final run, Beaugrand attacked immediately and opened a decisive gap before using her Short Chute on the final lap to put the victory beyond doubt.
Beaugrand triumphed in 56 minutes and 45 seconds, while Taylor-Brown followed not far behind in 57:04.
Jeanne Lehair from Luxembourg took third in 57:12, Jessica Fullagar from Britain was fourth in 57:29, and Leonie Periault from France came fifth in 57:45.
The result extended Beaugrand’s unbeaten 2026 season, with the Supertri title added to the four WTCS victories she brought heading into the race.
As the racing season enters its home stretch, three Bahrain Victorious champions – Jelle Geens, Marten Van Riel, and Kat Matthews will line up next weekend at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France.
A world-class course will offer the very best triathletes a worthy challenge, including a 1.9km swim in the azure blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea, 90.1km a bike course showcasing the Alpes Maritime with quaint villages and stunning views, an a 21km run along the Promenade des Anglais for a spectator-intense finale.
