Saudi Arabia has removed 30 items from school canteen menus in an effort to promote healthy eating habits and ensure a balanced diet amongst students.
The new rules prohibit the sale of popular items, including chips, confectionery, flavoured and chocolate milk, chocolate-coated biscuits, peanuts, croissants, mortadella, cold teas, juices with artificial flavours, and fizzy drinks.
Breaded meat, poultry, and fish have also been banned, alongside sandwiches containing custard, chocolate, toffee, or vanilla fillings.
Mayonnaise, pickles, and chewing gum are also on the banned list.
