Registration is now open for an annual competition in art, culture and literature for Indian children residing in Bahrain.
The Kerala Catholic Association (KCA) has announced the launch of the 26th edition of KCA-BFC (Bahrain Financing Company) The Indian Talent Scan 2026, which will run from October 20 until the first week of December.
Details were announced yesterday at a Press conference chaired by KCA president James John and senior members at the association’s premises in Segaiya.
A special organising committee has been set up with the appointment of Leo Joseph as chairman, followed by Simi Leo as chief co-ordinator, Joshy Vithayathil as vice chairman and Simi Asok and Pretty Roy as vice chairpersons. In addition, several sub-committees have been formed to cover different aspects of the programme.
“We thank the parents for their enthusiastic feedback on the previous Talent Scan competitions, and expect the same warm response, which will help make this event successful,” said KCA general secretary Vinu Christy.
Registration for the events opened on September 17 and closes on October 8.
Mr Joseph said preparations were already in progress to ensure the programme is executed seamlessly and in line with KCA’s high standards of professionalism.
Indian children residing in Bahrain who are born between October 1, 2008 and September 30, 2021 are eligible to participate. They will be divided into five age groups.
The competition features six categories of events: Natya Ratna (Dance), Sangeet Ratna (Song), Kala Ratna (Arts and Crafts), Sahitya Ratna (Literary), Add-On Events and Team.
More than 180 individual events will be available across the five age groups, along with several team events.
Participants can take part in a maximum of 12 individual events and any number of team events. Numerous awards and trophies will be presented, including Kalathilakam and Kalaprathibha Awards, Group Championship Awards, KCA Special Awards, Natya Ratna, Sangeet Ratna, Kala Ratna, and Sahitya Ratna Awards.
Awards for Best Dance Teacher, Best Music Teacher and Participation and Performance Awards to Schools will also be given. All participants will receive certificates.
More than 800 awards were presented to talented children during last year’s competition.
An entry fee of BD2 per item per child will be charged from KCA members, while non-members will be charged BD3 per item per child.
For dance events, KCA members will be charged BD3 per item and non-members will be charged BD4 per item.
For team events, the fee will be BD10 per team. If all members of a team are KCA members, the fee will be BD5 per team.
KCA members should have updated their subscription up to September 2026 to avail the member privilege.
