Bahraini families are set to benefit from 137 new housing units in Salman Town, with reservations opening under the government’s social housing programme.
The Housing and Urban Planning Ministry yesterday announced three new private-sector projects under its off-plan sales scheme, adding more choice for citizens seeking homes compatible with available housing finance.
The launch comes as Bahrain prepares to host the second edition of the Social Housing Innovation Conference and Exhibition, from September 29 until October 3 at Exhibition World Bahrain, bringing together government bodies, financiers and property developers to explore new ways of meeting the kingdom’s housing needs.
Minister Amna Al Romaihi said the latest offering represents another step towards expanding Bahrain’s housing stock and strengthening the role of private developers in delivering social housing.
“The launch of 137 new housing units for reservation through the off-plan sales programme represents an additional step towards increasing the real estate stock,” she said.

Ms Al Romaihi said the projects form part of the Government Land Development Rights Programme, which allows the private sector to use its technical and development expertise to deliver housing projects suited to citizens’ available financing.
The three developments will see 24 units (Al Marsa Neighbourhood) delivered by an alliance between Naseej Real Estate Development and Almoayyed Contracting, while Delmon Gate Real Estate will develop 69 units (Al Aseel Neighbourhood) and Bahrain First Real Estate Development will deliver 44 units (Al Sahel Neighbourhood).
The minister said expanding the programme would help increase the supply of homes compatible with housing finance values while giving citizens greater flexibility and a wider range of options.
She pointed to the positive results of earlier public-private housing projects, including Suhail in Luzi, Al Naseem in Salman Town, Al Wadi in Al Buhair and Danat Sanad.
“These projects have contributed to enhancing the diversity of real estate options available to beneficiaries of housing finance programmes,” Ms Al Romaihi said.
She added that the latest expansion reflected the importance of the private sector as a key partner in developing Bahrain’s social housing sector, particularly through its engineering, technical and development capabilities.
The timing of the launch is also significant, coming alongside the second Social Housing Innovation Conference and Exhibition. She described the forum as a platform bringing together the various players in the housing ecosystem and helping turn partnerships and innovative solutions into actual housing projects.
The minister also highlighted the growing use of digital solutions to make it easier for citizens to access suitable property and financing options.
The developers involved in the upcoming projects welcomed the partnership with the ministry.
Naseej chief executive officer Amin Al Arrayed said private-sector participation in social housing projects strengthens integration between the government and private sectors and helps provide more housing choices for citizens.
Almoayyed Contracting executive director Hala Almoayyed said the company was proud to join forces with Naseej to deliver the 24-unit project in Salman Town. She said the development underlined the importance of government-private sector partnerships in supporting housing and development projects across Bahrain.
For Delmon Gate Real Estate CEO Abdullah Ali, the 69-unit project represents a renewed partnership with the ministry. He noted that it follows the company’s successful Al Naseem project in Salman Town, which delivered 131 housing units. The new development, he added, demonstrates the continuity of the partnership and its contribution to increasing the supply of homes available to citizens.
Bahrain First Real Estate Development CEO Omar Faisal Al Tamimi stressed the company’s commitment to contributing to social housing projects and supporting the private sector’s role in Bahrain’s housing development goals.
