Expatriate workers in Bahrain can now be temporarily assigned to another employer for up to three months under new rules aimed at giving businesses greater flexibility in deploying foreign employees.
The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has amended regulations governing work permits for expatriates, allowing authorised employers to place workers in other establishments under specific conditions.
The changes were approved by the LMRA Board of Directors and published in latest edition of the Official Gazette dated September 24 and circulated today.
The new rules were issued by LMRA Board chairman and Labour and Legal Affairs Minister Yousif Khalaf and they take effect immediately.
Under Resolution No (2) of 2026, the new rules introduce a mechanism allowing a foreign worker to work for another employer for a period of up to three months, subject to LMRA approval.
