F1 – Excitement for this weekend’s Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia 2026 has reached fever pitch as preparations for the kingdom’s F1 spectacle abroad are in their final stages.
Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF) president and Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) vice-president for sport for Mena Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa praised yesterday the great efforts of the BMF delegation in Kuala Lumpur, as they gear up for the world-class racing this Friday to Sunday at Sepang International Circuit (SIC).
Shaikh Abdulla delivered his message in a video conference with BMF officials and the heads of the various BMF teams that are on site in Malaysia.
They held a coordination meeting to discuss the latest arrangements for the race weekend.
Shaikh Abdulla expressed his pride in the work of the BMF personnel and their outstanding contributions in honouring the kingdom while showcasing the capabilities of its people at the highest levels of international motorsport.
Shaikh Abdulla affirmed that the BMF is committed to providing all necessary support and resources to ensure the smooth running of the event.
He wished all BMF members success in their respective tasks as they aspire to achieve an outcome that reflects Bahrain’s high standing in the world of motor racing.
BMF general manager and delegation head in Kuala Lumpur Abdulaziz Al Thawadi chaired yesterday’s meeting.
He lauded the support, attention, and continuous follow-up that the BMF teams receive from Shaikh Abdulla and his keenness to provide all the necessary requirements to deliver a successful grand prix.
Al Thawadi reviewed the readiness of all aspects of organisation and confirmed that the BMF is fully prepared to carry out their responsibilities throughout race week.
The meeting included presentations from the team leaders outlining their work plans for the race.
Meanwhile, Bahrain Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Waleed Al Manea visited a group of top BMF officials at their Kuala Lumpur residence yesterday.
Ambassador Al Manea was received by Al Thawadi and several BMF board members along with the heads of the federation’s teams working the race weekend.
Ambassador Al Manea was briefed on the latest preparations being made by the Bahraini organisers as the days continue to count down to the start of racing.
He was also given an explanation of the nature of BMF’s tasks in the event and was toured around several facilities of the BMF teams’ accommodation.
Ambassador Al Manea praised the extensive preparations undertaken by the BMF and the guidance and follow-up provided by Shaikh Abdulla, in cooperation and coordination with Bahrain International Circuit and their Malaysian counterparts.
The BMF officials later presented a commemorative mini helmet to Ambassador Al Manea in appreciation of his visit.
