As debate continues over whether delivery motorcycles should be restricted on highways, there is another road-safety issue that deserves attention.
The accompanying photograph, taken at the Hidd Power Plant signal, shows a motorcycle apparently without side mirrors, turn signals or a number plate. Neither the rider nor the passenger appeared to be wearing a helmet.
The rider then continued along the highway from Hidd towards Mina Khalifa, displaying what appeared to be little regard for basic road-safety precautions.
I hope the authorities will take a serious look at such cases and ensure that unsafe or non-compliant vehicles are kept off Bahrain’s roads.
They pose a danger not only to those riding them, but also to other motorists.
