GULF WEEKLY -
Soul and R&B singer Remi Wolf drops her new album Mud tomorrow, October 9.
Reflecting on its title, the artist revealed that she felt literally covered in dirt during the process and clean and clear by the end of it.
“I feel like I’ve crossed into a new phase of life because of this album,” Remi said in an interview.
“It has been a very cleansing record to make for me,” she added.
The upcoming 11 tracks were composed after a period of self-reflection, according to the 30 year-old artist, who embarked on her career as a high school senior on American Idol in 2014.
She made her debut in 2019 with the extended play You’re A Dog! after completing her undergraduate music studies the previous year.
Her first full-length studio album Juno, released in 2021, received critical acclaim from critics, with review aggregator Metacritic rating the record 85 out of 100.
In a previous interview, she had described her musical style as ‘funky soul pop’, with an aim to constantly innovate the sound of pop music and erase any rules that might be associated with the genre.
“I want to push the soundscape and the sounds we’re able to use, the words I’m able to use, the vocal tone that I’m able to use. It would be my dream if radio was like ‘Wait, this is sick’ because it’s so different than everything that’s on the radio now. At the end of the day, I want everybody to like my music,” she had said.
