Sometimes, I forget just how important it is to slow down. Even at work, when I’m simply walking to make a cup of tea, I catch myself speed-walking and have to remind myself to take my time.
Spending an extra couple of minutes making and enjoying a cup of tea isn’t going to make or break my workday. In fact, when I give myself that extra minute to slow down, take a deep breath and watch the birds outside, I can literally feel my body start to relax.
I think that, whatever our jobs, we are constantly thinking and processing things from the moment we wake up until our head hits the pillow.
Sometimes, it feels like our minds just never switch off.
So, I guess my message is simple: remind yourself to slow down and give yourself a moment to breathe. That doesn’t mean you have to stop being productive. It could be as simple as stepping outside for a quick walk, getting up from your chair to stretch your back, or taking a few minutes to enjoy a cup of tea without rushing.
Sometimes, those small moments are exactly what we need. Your body and mind will thank you for it.
