Jaguar’s electric car, the Type 01, was launched in New York on Tuesday night, marking the culmination of a two-year rebrand that has been among the most scrutinised in automotive history.
The vehicle is an imposing four-door grand tourer featuring an ultra-long bonnet, a low roofline, and a muscular design.
The Type 01 represents a sharp departure from its predecessor, the sports-focused F-Type.
It carries a starting price of £130,000 (approx. BD64,000) in the UK and $130,500 (approx. BD49,000) in the US.
The manufacturer describes the model as the most technically advanced, powerful, and aerodynamic Jaguar ever engineered.
Its electric powertrain produces approximately 1,000 horsepower, enabling acceleration from 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds.
Parent company JLR states the vehicle delivers a sustained highway driving range of up to 515 kilometres.
