BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN’S youth men’s basketball national team held their first training session over the weekend as part of their latest preparations for upcoming competitions.
The practice was supervised by senior men’s national team head coach Slobodan Subotic from Slovenia, and it took place at the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) Arena in Um Al Hassam Sports Complex.
The start of training comes as part of the BBA’s plans to ensure the continuity of the national teams’ activities, especially in the age groups, in order to strengthen their readiness for their forthcoming participations. This will also allow players to follow and assess their individual progress and work with the kingdom’s coaching staff according to an integrated technical vision which supports the kingdom’s national teams at all levels.
The assembly featured a large number of players in the under-16 age group. Their potential and abilities were assessed to prepare the elements necessary to continue the upcoming stages of preparation, and to put them in appropriate programmes to further develop their skills.
BBA vice-chairman Nader Al Awadhi attended the training session and emphasised that the attention to age-group selections is a priority of the BBA’s future plans, as it is a basic requirement for building teams capable of competing and achieving success.
Amongst the competitions Bahrain’s youth team are gearing up for is the Gulf Basketball Association qualifiers for the Fiba U16 Asia Cup 2027, currently slated to be held in Amman, Jordan.
