GOLF – LEXUS Bahrain, represented by Ebrahim K Kanoo, marked its second consecutive year as the main sponsor of the eighth Bahrain Amateur Open Golf Championship, writes client editor Olivia Middleton.
The four-day tournament, organised by the Bahrain Golf Association, was staged last weekend at the Royal Golf Club in Riffa Views.
As a counted event in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, it featured more than 100 international and local golfers, serving as a qualifier for November’s 18th King Hamad Trophy Golf Championship.
Lexus displayed its latest vehicle lineup at the venue, highlighting its electrified transition with the all-electric Lexus RZ and offering an exclusive preview of the all-new Lexus ES ahead of its official launch. Attendees were also hosted at the trackside Omotenashi Café.
Lexus director and Ebrahim K. Kanoo board member Isa Mohamed Kanoo emphasised the company’s corporate social responsibility: “At Ebrahim K. Kanoo, we believe in the importance of supporting sporting activities and events, given their role in encouraging people to take up sport and in instilling the values of fair competition and sportsmanship.”
“Our sponsorship of this championship stems from our commitment to our social responsibility and our desire to be an active partner in supporting initiatives that serve Bahraini society.”
He added that the alignment reflects the shared core values of precision and excellence between the sport and the luxury automotive brand: “We are delighted that Lexus is sponsoring the championship for the second consecutive year. It reflects our interest in golf and our commitment to supporting efforts to develop the game and raise its standard.”
The sporting event was a spectacular success with Sam Mullane from the UAE being crowned champion and His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa emerging victorious in the nett category.
