MANAMA: CrediMax has announced the launch of its digital wallet called MaxWallet, in collaboration with MasterCard.
Initially based on QR code technology, MaxWallet will be available as an app on both Android and iOS platforms.
CrediMax cardholders downloading the app on their mobile devices will be able to make QR-code based payments to select participant merchants in Bahrain and internationally.
“This will grow – meaning the merchants types and numbers as the QR payments and acceptance is a gradual and slow process which requires efforts to raise awareness amongst cardholders and merchants,” said CrediMax chief executive Yousif Ali Mirza.
“The launch is of extreme importance to us and will enable us lead in the introduction and expansion of mobile payments as we are well-positioned,” he added.
According to MasterCard Northern Gulf Area business head Pankaj Kathuria, by enabling consumers to make fast, simple and secure digital payments directly from their mobile phones, Masterpass QR helps advance the use of cashless payment methods by providing a viable alternative to cash, while contributing to financial inclusion by empowering thousands of small businesses.
