At a special session titled 'US Police in Syria' which kicked off this year's Manama Dialogue, US Special Envoy for Syria Joel Rayburn listed his government's priorities for the country.
"The US has three priorities in Syria - to achieve enduring defeat of ISIS, withdrawal of all forces commanded by Iran and a political resolution of the conflict."
The 14th Manama Dialogue, organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies will officially kick off at 7pm with a televised plenary on "The Reordering of Middle East: Building Stability from Chaos", at The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain.
Senior government officials and security chiefs from around the world are attending the key regional security summit which continues until Sunday.
The plenary session will be followed by a reception and dinner where Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi will deliver the keynote address on behalf of King Abdullah of Jordan who cancelled his visit to Bahrain on Thursday night following flash floods in the Dead Sea area that killed at least 18 people, including children.
