Bahrain: A Pilot who allegedly tried to smuggle sex toys into Bahrain in his socks has lodged an appeal against a BD200 fine.
The 49-year-old Bahraini was arrested at Bahrain International Airport by Customs officers who were alerted by his unusual walk, according to court documents.
Prosecutors said he arrived from Thailand with two sex toys stuffed down the socks he was wearing and one in his jacket.
The Lower Criminal Court fined him for importing obscene items and the pilot’s appeal is scheduled to be heard by the High Criminal Appeals Court today.
In his statement to prosecutors the defendant said he bought the sex toys for himself and his friends to help overcome problems associated with diabetes.
“On November 4, 2014 I arrived at Bahrain International Airport and I was ordered into the red lane where a Customs official searched me,” he said in his statement to prosecutors.
“They found three sex toys, including one that I was hiding under my jacket and two in my socks.
“I was hiding them because I was embarrassed, but my intention was not to smuggle them.
“I bought them for my friends and myself for personal use to help us sexually because we suffer from severe diabetes.
“Inside the sex toy there is a device that helps that.”
The Customs officer who searched him told prosecutors he became suspicious when he noticed the pilot’s “strange” walk.
“A Bahraini man approached us and he was walking strangely, which raised my suspicion,” he said.
“I stopped him and he admitted to hiding sex toys in his socks and jacket.
“We then confiscated the illegal items and arrested him.”
Pictures of the sex toys were attached to court documents as evidence.
