His Majesty King Hamad yesterday paid homage to the pioneering policemen who played a trailblazing role in building a modern Bahrain and placed stability as a cornerstone of national development.
He also paid tribute to Bahrain’s policemen for their role in maintaining national security.
His Majesty was patronising, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, a ceremony by the Interior Ministry, marking the centenary of the establishment of the police in the kingdom.
The King was received on arrival at Bahrain National Stadium by Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa as the artillery fired a 21-gun salute.
He underlined the vital role of security which has contributed to Bahrain’s progress and stressed the need of continued commitment to the rule of law and the noble security mission.
His Majesty thanked the Interior Minister as well as officers and servicemen for their unflinching patriotic determination for the sake of the nation’s security and development.

The King expressed pride on the occasion and the historical connotations and the significance of the centenary, which represents a token of gratitude to the early nation-builders, who set a model to emulate for sacrifice and dedication in serving the homeland.
“The country has every right to feel proud of its citizens and recall their stances and dedication,” the King said.
“Loyal citizens are a source of pride for generations and their memories are engraved in the annals of history.
“We are confident of the cohesion of our internal front and our national unity, which represent the cornerstones of national security and stability,” he said.
