THIS refers to the comment by Akram Miknas, (GDN, July 24).
He attributed the “Renaissance Dam disaster” as one of the indirect consequences of the so-called ‘Arab Spring’, in 2011. This comment needs an addendum to clarify that the dam is part of a complicated plan by the US corporations. They wanted to pave the way for the dam to be used as a weapon to subdue Egypt and humiliate Arabia.
On June 30, 1989 a coup in Sudan was led by military officer Omar Al Bashir who took power in its aftermath and would go on to rule the country for the next 30 years. Sudan became the only state that formally opted the Sharia as its system of government. By its own admission, it has not yet crafted the institutions needed to realise an Islamic regime. But its rulers, having made the choice, have left no doubt that Islam will not be disestablished, whatever the opposition and consequences, including civil. (Foreign Affairs; May/June 1995).
Sudan was a neglected nation that the US did not care about until oil was discovered in 1978, then suddenly the Zionists had a cause. They backed a Marxist rebel who pitted the black farmers in the south against the Arab Khartoum in the north. Between 1983 and the 2005 peace agreement, Sudan’s civil war took nearly two million lives and displaced six million more.
At that time the US Corp decided that Sudan is too big to survive with its oil reserve. They devised a bifurcation plan to secede the south of Sudan and create military insurgency in Darfur. It was the Zionist mainstream media that were pushing hard the genocide and massacre of the people of Darfur through cornering the Islamic Sudanese government. At the same time, it is a fact that Sudan had been considered an enemy of the US for several years and both the US and Israel have been supporting rebels in an effort to overthrow the government.
Clinton even launched a missile attack that destroyed the El Shifa pharmaceutical plant in Sudan. This plant was responsible for over 50 per cent of Sudan ’s medicine. This included 90pc of the most critically needed drugs. According to research done by Richard Becker, Sara Flounders and John Parker:
“...the bombing will inexorably cause the suffering and death of tens of thousands of innocent people all over Africa, many of them children, by depriving them of basic medicines against malaria, tuberculosis, and other easily curable diseases.”
The US Corp decided to change regime in Sudan as they did in Iraq. For example, tens of Darfur-related events and meetings were held in Boston area. Save Darfur movement has associations with the David Project or the American Anti-Slavery Group, which were both founded by Charles Jacobs. According to Joachim Martillo who was attending those events; “I am concerned about hate-mongering and anti-Arab or anti-Muslim incitement that can only have negative implications for homeland security within the Bay State and for the whole country”.
Mr Martillo concluded that:
1. Darfur activism is a very successful viral marketing campaign, which has been created by a local Boston extremist Israel advocacy group, and,
2. the Save Darfur movement connects to the upper echelons of the Neocons.
The organised Jewish community with guidance from neocon leaders is making a show of political force as well as trying to control human rights and genocide discourse by means of the Sudan issue. (https://eaazi.blogspot.com/2007/04/open-letter-to-michael-capuano.html)
The Darfur bloodbath was initiated by neocons and the cruel sanctions led to seceding of South Sudan that was followed by yet another bloodbath when seceding ended in liquidation of conventional agreements between tribes in the south and a genocide followed as usual whenever the US Corp interfered. Sudan currently is extremely weak and will accept the electricity rendered by the dam as bribe from Ethiopia to close their mouth and accept the inevitable. Egypt’s strangulation by “Renaissance” is not far and it is just a matter of time.
