Manama: Bahrain-based Asry, the leading ship and rig repair yard in the Arabian Gulf, yesterday announced that sales during the period January to April this year were approximately $54 million, as against $50m for the same period last year.
In a statement issued after the 144th board meeting, the yard said the number of vessels repaired during the period were 88 ships and 11 rigs.
Presided over by chairman Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa, the meeting was attended by representatives of the shareholding states – the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq and Libya. It appointed new representatives Abdul Nasser Mukhtar Ahmed and Abu Bakr Rajab Al Khallab.
The meeting included a review of the financial and operational results, as well as business activities of the company for the period from January 1 to April 30.
The board also discussed safety rules and regulations and the importance of developing them was emphasised as part of a comprehensive awareness campaign for all employees beginning June 1.
The importance of complying with safety standards, rules and regulations to ensure safety of all workers of the company at all levels, as well as employees and workers of subcontractors, were also emphasised.
