A BAHRAINI woman, aged 27, who tested positive during random community screening, infected seven people from three different households, it has been revealed.
The cases were family-related and include the woman’s husband, daughter and son, as well as the husband’s immediate family members, all of whom had direct contact with the index case (Cluster 85703), said the Health Ministry last night.
Further contact tracing of two of the cases revealed an additional three cases of secondary infection. The cluster thus affected 10 positive cases.
Meanwhile, a 51-year-old Bahraini man, who tested positive after developing Covid-19 symptoms (Cluster 84420), infected 10 people from five different households.
The cases included his family members – mother, wife, daughter, sister, brother-in-law, nieces – and their housekeeper, all of whom had direct contact with him.
A 34-year-old Bahraini woman, who also tested positive after developing symptoms (Cluster 85279), infected eight others with the virus from two different households, all of whom had direct contact with her.
The cases detected were all within her direct family including her parents, cousin, sister-in-law, niece and nephews.
An additional case of secondary infection was identified through further contact tracing of one of the cases.
Further contact tracing also identified a 30-year-old Bahraini woman, who tested positive through random community screening (Cluster 85596), infecting five people from three different households, all of whom had direct contact with her.
The cases were family-related, including her father, sister, nieces and nephew.
Contact tracing of one of the nieces revealed four additional cases of secondary infection, including her father, grandmother, aunt and cousin.
This cluster affected nine people.
Also, a 66-year-old Bahraini man who tested positive during random community screening (Cluster 84960) was found to have infected seven people.
The cases, all of whom had direct contact with him, included children, domestic help and an expatriate employee from two households.
Meanwhile, 1,084 Covid-19 cases were reported for the week ending December 2; of these 520 were Bahrainis and 564 non-Bahrainis.
The cases included 999 people who contracted the virus locally, while 85 were travel-related.
The average number of daily new cases dropped to 143.29 from 154.86.
A total of 195 people who contracted the virus were close contacts of positive cases, 248 tested positive after developing symptoms, 463 tested positive during random screening and 93 emerged positive after quarantine.
