A MAN described how he helped a female pimp run an illegal human trafficking ring because he loved her, a court heard.
The 43-year-old Bahraini is standing trial at the High Criminal Court along with two Thai sisters, nicknamed ‘Oum’ and ‘Boom’ and aged 34 and 43, who allegedly locked up women in apartments in Manama.
They are accused of holding a 34-year-old Thai victim in an apartment in Manama from December 20 to January 9.
The defendant said he met ‘Oum’ in a disco in Bahrain before they moved in together and he helped her run the human trafficking ring.
“I met her around a year ago and we started having sex,” he said in his statement to prosecutors.
“She then asked me to help get a visa for her sister.
“She kept women in an apartment in Hoora and her sister, nicknamed ‘Boom’, lived with them.
“They ran a prostitution ring on social media and when my girlfriend travelled to Thailand I help get food for the prostitutes.
“I would also transport the women to several apartments where they would have sex with men.
“I did this three times before policemen arrested me and I then led them to my girlfriend.
“I love my girlfriend and promised to do anything for her.”
The trial has been adjourned until Sunday for review.
‘Boom’ previously said she would clean, cook and collect money from prostitution and give it to her sister.
She said her sister paid her BD250 monthly and the latter had more than 60 prostitutes under her command.
The 34-year-old victim was lured to Bahrain after she was promised work as a masseuse.
She was forced to have sex with four men for BD7 a time.
She told the court she managed to trick her captors into returning her phone and called the Thai embassy which then contacted the police.
The court heard how the married woman, who has a 13-year-old daughter, was hoodwinked into accepting work as a masseuse in Bahrain.
She had spotted the post advertised on social media after she lost her job as a cashier in Thailand as a result of economic difficulties caused by the pandemic.
