A BD300 reward is being offered for the safe return of an aging pet dog belonging to one of Bahrain’s top chefs.
Ari, a 12-year-old female Maltese, went missing from her home on Amwaj Islands after slipping through the bars of a garden gate on July 27 at 8.45pm and is believed to have been picked up and taken away.
“We miss her so much,” said Brian Becher, executive chef of re Asian Cuisine, a Wolfgang Puck restaurant and CUT by Wolfgang Puck at Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay.
She is spayed, microchipped, has bad vision and hearing, and was wearing a collar featuring a name tag and telephone contact number. She also suffers from a bad back and is unable to run too far.
Mr Becher and his wife, Alexis, both American expatriates, bought Ari in the US when she was just four weeks old and she joined them in Bahrain seven years ago.
“I looked for her all night,” said Mrs Becher. “I tried calling out to her but she may not have been able to hear me as she is partially deaf. Her vision is not too good either,” said Alexis Becher.
“We just want our baby back. We named her ‘Ari’ because she sounded like a little pirate when she growled ‘arrrr’.
“She has a sassy personality. She’s a queen. She licks her paws just like a cat does, and always likes to be clean.
“Every memory with her is a ‘favourite’ memory. She is our family and we would love to have her back.”
The couple immediately filed a police report on the missing pet and has been co-ordinating with social media page administrators in a desperate bid to locate her.
The family owns a second dog, ‘Stoli’, who happens to be Ari’s daughter, who is also pining for her.
