THE National Committee for the Unified Procurement of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Supplies is stepping up efforts to rationalise expenditure and reduce waste of medicine and medical equipment, said the Supreme Council for Health (SCH) chief.
Delivering his inaugural speech at the first conference on pharmacovigilance and drug safety, Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa commended His Majesty King Hamad’s support for the health sector.
He also praised the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to further optimise health services to achieve the goals of Bahrain Vision 2030.
He pointed out the health insurance project and the radical change it requires in the funding, management and governance of the health sector.
The SCH president said the two-day event is being held at a crucial time when the kingdom is witnessing steady development in promoting health services.
He underlined the importance of such conferences in backing the ongoing efforts to upgrade the health sector and boost co-operation between the GCC member states.
He lauded the success of the GCC Health Ministers Committee meeting and the GCC Health Ministers Council meeting, hosted by Bahrain.
