  • Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Theyab bin Saqr Al Nuaimi inspected the Bahrain Shield joint exercise, conducted by the BDF with the participation of the armed forces of the GCC countries. The Chief of Staff noted that the exercise represents a practical embodiment of the established approach to strengthening the foundations of joint military co-operation among the armed forces of the GCC countries. He said the exercise serves as a strategic pillar for military solidarity adding that the hostile attacks witnessed across the region underscore the need to further develop defence co-operation. He expressed confidence that the exercise represents another solid step towards strengthening collective Gulf action.

The young patients, who are suffering from critical illnesses and medical conditions, received electronic devices, educational materials and other items chosen by the children themselves. The families expressed happiness at having their wards’ wishes fulfilled. The charities will continue the collaborative initiative, spreading hope in the community. RHF celebrated its 25th anniversary this month under the slogan ‘Humanitarian Legacy’.</p>

<p>The third season of the &lsquo;Healthy Pinoy Campaign&rsquo; to support the health and wellbeing of the Filipino community will kick off tomorrow. The month-long drive will be held across all Al Hilal Healthcare Group branches in Bahrain, except Al Hilal Premier Hospital. The group announced the launch, in collaboration with the Philippine Embassy, during a joint Press conference at its Manama central branch. The event, led by Philippine Ambassador Gines Jaime Gallaga, was attended by Al Hilal Healthcare Group chief executive officer Dr Sharath Chandran, business and strategy vice-president Asif Mohammed, finance manager Sahal Jamaludheen, group representatives and embassy officials. Throughout August, Filipinos will have access to complimentary preventive health screenings and medical consultations.&nbsp;</p>

  • Bahrain’s Ambassador to Türkiye Bassam Marzouq took part in the Fifth Turkish Maritime Summit, which was held under the auspices of the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure in Istanbul. The summit, which coincides with the centenary of Turkish coastal transport, was opened by Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu. The summit awards ceremony was held under the patronage of Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz. Strategic issues related to the future of maritime transport, including the digital transformation of ports, use of artificial intelligence applications, smart ports and security and safety of maritime navigation were discussed.

<p>An awareness lecture on the importance of promoting the mental well-being of women and children was organised by the General Directorate of Women Police in partnership with the Public Prosecution. Its main objective was to highlight a comprehensive support framework for vulnerable groups, particularly families exposed to social, psychological and economic risks.   • <p>Education Minister Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma conducted an inspection visit to centres administering the English language proficiency assessment (APTIS) as part of the final stage of evaluations for admission to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) in government schools.</p>
<p>The minister met the students and parents, as well as members of the educational and administrative teams overseeing the assessment process.</p>
<p>A total of 559 students qualified for the final stage of evaluations, which involved more than 3,000 students from all intermediate schools across Bahrain.</p>

  • Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) staged the grand finale of its annual cultural programme, Devji BKS GCC Kalotsavam 2026, yesterday, marking the end of the festival. The glittering event, held at its premises in Segaiya, featured Indian Ambassador Vinod Jacob as chief guest and included an award ceremony for winners of individual and group competitions. Around 800 participants across age groups took part in this year’s edition. In a first, Kalotsavam introduced the Special GCC Championship award this year, which was presented to Iris Elma Liju from Saudi Arabia. Gayathri Sudheer was crowned Kalathilakam, Samvruth Satheesh won the Kalaprathibha title, and Nehal Nibin was named Balathilakam.   • Labour and Legal Affairs Minister Yousif Khalaf chaired the 46th GCC Labour Ministers’ co-ordination meeting in Geneva, as part of Bahrain’s presidency of the current session of the GCC. Held on the sidelines of the 114th session of the International Labour Conference, the meeting focused on advancing labour co-operation among GCC member states and aligning positions on key issues under discussion at the conference.

  • <p>Finance and National Economy Minister and Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat) board of directors chairman Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa met his French counterpart and Industry, Energy and Digitalisation Minister Roland Lescure on the sidelines of Choose France Summit hosted by France.   • <p><em><strong>Bahrain’s musical heritage showcased</strong></em></p><p>The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca) staged a musical folk night on Friday at the Cultural Hall. The event, organised in conjuction with Eid Al Adha, featured the Dar Al Budaiya Al Janoubiya Band, which performed a selection of traditional songs, bringing alive Bahrain’s rich heritage. Attendees enjoyed some of Bahrain’s most celebrated melodies, characterised by distinctive rhythms that reflect the kingdom’s maritime, social and cultural history.</p>
