  • <p>Cultural enthusiasts were treated to a woman-centric musical dance play staged by the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) Ladies&rsquo; Wing last night. The event took place at the BKS Diamond Jubilee Hall in Segaiya and was graced by chief guest, actor and the first female president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists, Shwetha Menon. The character of Vindhyavali, the wife of King Mahabali, was skilfully brought alive in the namesake act that was put together by more than 100 Bahrain-based artists and technicians. The production was part of BKS&rsquo; Sraavanam 2025 Onam celebrations. Onam, celebrated by the Malayalee community worldwide, commemorates the return of the legendary King Mahabali to his kingdom, Kerala.</p>

  • <p>The Interior Ministry announced that the Coastguard carried out a joint maritime exercise (Al Shamil 1), with participation from the National Guard and Bapco Energies, and several security directorates.</p> <p>The exercise included the implementation of maritime search and rescue operations in the area designated for Bapco Energies&rsquo; marine survey project, enhancing full readiness to respond to emergencies and safeguard lives and property.</p>

  • <p>Supreme Council for Health chairman Lieutenant General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa yesterday inaugurated a new intensive care unit at Salmaniya Medical Complex. </p><p>He noted that this step forms part of a comprehensive plan to expand critical care services and upgrade the complex’s infrastructure in response to rising patient needs and Bahrain’s vision for a sustainable healthcare future. </p><p>Government Hospitals chief executive officer Dr Maryam Al Jalahma pointed out that the new intensive care unit will strengthen the readiness of government hospitals to handle critical cases in line with international medical standards.</p>

  • <p>On behalf of His Majesty King Hamad, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, National Guard Commander General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa inaugurated the King Hamad University of Nursing and Associated Medical Sciences in Islamabad.</p> <p>Pakistan Armed Forces&rsquo; Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee chairman General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and Royal Medical Services Commander Brigadier General Dr Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa were present.</p> <p>The King Hamad University of Nursing and Associated Medical Sciences will provide modern residential facilities for up to 1,000 students and aims to graduate 500 specialists annually.</p> <p>It will offer high-quality academic and administrative expertise, adopting curricula recognised on par with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), in line with established academic and medical standards.</p>

  • The Palestinian Mission in the UK launched a flag-raising ceremony to mark its recognition as the Embassy, following the UK’s official recognition of the State of Palestine. The event was attended by Bahrain’s Ambassador to the UK and Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa; Hamish Falconer, Minister for the Middle East and North Africa at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office; British parliamentarians, ambassadors and diplomats in the UK. Shaikh Fawaz welcomed the UK’s recognition of the Palestinian state.

  • <p>National Guard Commander Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa arrived in Islamabad, Pakistan, on an official visit.</p> <p>Shaikh Mohammed was received at Pakistan Air Force Base Nur Khan by General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Pakistan Armed Forces, along with several Pakistani generals and army commanders.</p> <p>Also present were Bahrain&rsquo;s Ambassador to Pakistan Mohammed Ebrahim Mohammed and embassy staff. The visit highlights the longstanding ties between Bahrain and Pakistan, reflecting mutual co-operation and respect across political, economic, military and cultural domains.</p> <p>These relations have progressed over time to support the interests of both countries and their peoples.</p>

  • Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani held a meeting with members of the diplomatic delegation designated to serve on Bahrain’s team for its non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council (2026-2027), at the kingdom’s permanent mission to the United Nations in New York. The meeting was attended by Bahrain’s Permanent Representative Jamal Faris Al Ruwaie, Under-Secretary for Political Affairs Khaled Al Jalahma and members of the Foreign Ministry delegation participating in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.   • ENDURANCE HORSERACING – BAHRAIN’S Royal Endurance Team members were awarded their respective trophies yesterday during the official prize giving ceremony of the FEI Endurance World Championship for Young Riders and Juniors 2025 in Buftea, Romania. Saud Mubarak Sabt and Issa Hameed Al Anezi both climbed the podium for the meeting’s 120-kilometre ride, with Sabt taking second place and Al Anezi coming third. The Bahraini pair finished behind triumphant Emirati rider Rashid Mohammed. They were joined in yesterday’s awarding by Royal Endurance Team members.   • <p>Interior Ministry Under-Secretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs and Maan (Together) Committee Against Violence and Addiction chairman Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa yesterday received a delegation from the University of North Carolina, led by Professor David Wyrick, as part of ongoing academic and research cooperation between the ministry and international universities. They reviewed the joint study conducted by the Maan Regional Centre for Research and Training and the University of North Carolina on the Maan curriculum for peaceful coexistence and countering extremism.
